Choose 1 source to write a FORMATIVE annotated bibliography entry on. This is due at the beginning of class tomorrow (3/5). I will give you feedback that you can then apply to the other annotated bibliography you complete for a summative grade.
An Annotated Bib has three parts: 1. MLA Citation 2. Summarize Paragraph 3. Assess Paragraph MLA CITATION: Follow the citation format for your type of source. Website article: Author's last name, first name. "Article Title." Website Title. Publisher, Publishing date. Web. Access date. - If there is no author listed, leave it blank. - Write the access date like this: 3 March 2015. - Leave "Web." in there ... that's just to signify you accessed the article online. Personally Conducted Interview: Interviewee's Last name, first name. Personal Interview. Date Interview. - Write the date like this: 3 March 2015. SUMMARIZE PARAGRAPH: - Write 4-5 sentences that summarize the source's main points. - The topic sentence should include the article title and/or author's name. - Write in 3rd person. (No "I"s or "yous".) - Include one direct quote that you imbed into a sentence of your own writing. For example: Even though many think abortion should be legal because a woman may be raped, "less than 1% of all abortions performed due to rape." ASSESS PARAGRAPH: - Write 4-5 sentences that proves the source's credibility. - Things to consider: where was it published? when was it published? are sources cited? what is the site's domain (.org, .com, etc.)? what types of people, organizations, or universities are quoted or mentioned? is there bias? how do you know? - Be sure to explain HOW the publication date PROVES the credibility. Do not just say when it was published.
