Background Information 10/8: Students researched background information to share with the class on our notes. Character Chart 10/12: We created a color-coded character chart to help us remember the connections between characters. Interactive Map 10/12-end: We will use this map to track Odysseus's 10 year journey to get home, as it can get rather complicated to follow. We're also making our own map to mirror this one. Notes 10/12- end: Students should be taking a few notes as we read together in class: summarizing Odysseus's journey, noting examples of kleos, xenia, epic simils, etc., and Odysseus's qualities. Movie 10/20 Students watched the first part of the book. Can be found here. Percy Jackson clips of Scylla and Charybdis can be found here. Create Monster + Story 10/21 Students created their own monster/obstacle for Odysseus, and then wrote a story describing Odysseus and his men encountering their monster. Students should focus on the ways we discussed to fix run-on sentences... especially correctly using coordinating conjunctions.
