Here is the handout with project details and explanations.
Three options: Body Biography --> Students should draw and answer all of the guiding questions from the handout. Each part (intentions, characteristics, etc.) should be explained in roughly 3 sentences and include one direct quote from the story to prove each idea. Children's Book --> Students are retelling the story in a creative way (the families are vegetables or rival office supplies). The main points in the entire plot should be present in the story with a minimum of 10 pages; more than one scene can be represented on a page. In the past, students have taken their own pictures, used computer programs to draw and type the scenes, draw, paint, collage, etc. Soundtrack --> This consists of two parts: 1) designing the front/back of a CD cover that illustrates a theme of R&J, and 2) choosing 1 song to match a scene from each act (5 songs total). Students should write 1 paragraph for each song explaining (using direct quotes from both the song and the play) how the song relates to that scene. (Here are the rubrics I will use to grade the projects.) This 25 summative point project is due Monday, April 13th. Only 1 day of class time will be given to complete this project, which is why students have one month to work on it outside of class. I am available to give feedback on the project at anytime during the next month. |
