Due Thurs 8/28 for 1st, 4th & 7th. There is a literary terms quiz on Friday, Aug 29th. The quiz will be matching and require you to identify examples of the literary terms, not just their definition. Example: 1. Metaphor A. The sun sparkled like diamonds. 2. Simile B. The sun danced joyfully with the clouds. 3. Personification C. The yellow cheese ball floated in the sky. ANSWER KEY: Metaphor = C Simile = A Personification = B You will need to know the following terms for the quiz: Metaphor, simile, personification, hyperbole, allusion, onomatopoeia, situational irony, foreshadowing. As well as: 1st person POV, 3rd limited POV, 3rd omniscient POV & flat, dynamic and round characters. Click here to view the Literary Terms PowerPoint and here for a copy of the guided notes.
Remember that your word wall sign should include: the term, its definition, a picture to help us visualize the term, and some color! Four people will have the same word... the best sign gets extra credit and a place on the word wall :) Below is an example: Here is a copy of the reading strategies PowerPoint we discussed in class. You will need to know the definitions of these strategies as well as what they look like "in use" on this unit test and the final. We will be practicing these strategies throughout our short story unit (and the rest of the year!) I am so excited to have you in class this year! Here is a copy of the class syllabus and a copy of the parent letter. Don't forget to sign up for Remind101 text reminders by texting "kmuldoon" to 402-817-1887. |
