STUDY TIPS: I suggest creating flash cards, color-coding the terms with their examples, illustrating the important scenes, simply reviewing the reading guide, or creating unique way to help remember the specific order of events by focusing on the first letter in each step.

For bell work the next few weeks, we will be focusing on how to properly combine sentences to get rid of pesky run-ons, fragments, and simple sentences. <-- Watch this video if you need a refresher. For And Nor But Or Yet So Comma splice: Using only a comma to separate two complete sentences. Example: I dressed up as Harry Potter for Halloween, I got lots of candy. Run-on: Using a conjunction, but no comma to separate two complete sentences. Example: I dressed up as Harry Potter for Halloween and I got lots of candy. Use a coordinating conjunction to write a complete sentence: YAY!! Example: I dressed up as Harry Potter for Halloween, and I got lots of candy. We are currently reading Homer's The Odyssey out of our literature books. All readings will be done in class. The summative test will be over plot comprehension, greek terms: xenia and kleos, literary terms: epic simile, epic, epithet, and using clues in the text to analyze the character's qualities and choices.
