3/14: Students gained access to the MLA outline and I explained how to input their facts into the outline. Each fact needs an in-text citation. If the source has an author, put his/her last name in the citation. Example: "60% of teens play video games" (Smith). If the source has no author, put the article title in the citation. Example: Most teens spend three hours a day playing video games ("Video Games"). 3/15: Students continued working on their outline. I also explained how to complete the counter-argument paragraph. 3/16: Students wrote their thesis statements and finished anything in the outline. Even though some people think (counter argument), (topic) is (opinion) because (main point 1) and (main point 2). Even though some people think social media leads to bullying, social media is good because it connects people and it allows people to express themselves. 3/17: Last day in the labs. Works Cited page + two annotated bibliographies and the outline are due at the end of class. 3/18: Students will choose a choice novel and learn about their literature circle role. 3/7: Students have time to read their four articles, highlight important information, and record notes (at least 3 per source).
3/8: Students have the whole class period to write an annotated bibliography (summarize and assess paragraph) over one of their sources. Directions and examples are in their packet. 3/9: All 20 notes taken from their 4 sources are due at the end of the class period. 3/10: Students will get their annotated bibliographies back and can make corrections. Students will also be able to make changes to their Works Cited page in Noodletools based on feedback from the rough draft they turned in last week. 3/11: Students will write another annotated bibliography over a different source. This is a summative grade. |
